It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Lawrence. He came to our department in 1991 which was significantly enhanced by his influence. Lawrence pioneered developments in so many areas, computing, information technology, day care, intravenous anaesthesia. He sought no personal recognition for this although he greatly deserved it. He was an incredibly nice and sincere person, widely respected and admired, he will be very well remembered but also he is sadly missed.
